Herb of the Moon: Why We’re Launching a FREE Herbal Newsletter

The heart of our mission here at Sam & Angie’s is to empower you to learn about self care with plant medicine.

We love herbs so much, we wanted to teach you about them for free!

The art of self-healing so incredibly important, even though it feels like in today’s world, it’s almost frowned upon.

As we mentioned in most our recent newsletter, we’re expected to simply accept everything Big Pharma tell us. If you have a sniffle, you take stuff to suppress it. Having any other problem? Just take some pills and don’t bother trying to know what the root cause is.

Have you ever felt like you weren’t really listened to during a consultation? Like your concerns were glossed over, and nobody cared when you said you were in pain?

We’ve felt this too.

This isn’t to say that there’s no place for allopathic medicine. It’s essential to find balance- but the reality is that Western medicine is not always showing the full picture of health. And the system as a whole is imbued with power imbalances and financial obligations, stripping the power away from the patient.

Most times we have had a consultation with a Dr., we spend over 3 months waiting for an appointment, are in and out of their office within 20 minutes, and are handed a $500 bill. No explanations.

This is by design.

When you have a chronic condition, this kind of care just doesn’t entirely cut it. It doesn’t even begin to touch the healing that needs to be done on a whole-body level. So we came to the conclusion that if we really want a solution to better health, we have to realize that we are our own healers.

Ultimately, even with the support of a really exceptional health team, they are not your healers — your body is healing itself! While anyone can recommend certain therapies, it’s up to you to consent and it’s up to your body to get the healing done.

We know that if we give our bodies the building blocks they need to heal, they’ll do a pretty great job at it. Because life is naturally intelligent and always, always striving to improve.✨

We also believe that plants are some of our greatest allies in healing, and have been since the dawn of humankind.

That’s because the health system we know today was not always like this, for over 99% of human history.

The stifling and suppression of natural healing modalities is, after all, a result of John D. Rockefeller’s selective funding of scientific medicine schools, prior to which, scientific medicine and natural medicine existed in tandem, harmonizing each other’s benefits for a holistic approach to health.

But today, most of the ancient healing practices our ancestors knew are at risk of being lost to history, resigned to bookshelves that may never be accessed again.

We want bring that knowledge back into people’s hands, and give people access to the natural commonwealth belonging to every human on this earth- plant medicine.

So for this reason, we’ve created the 🌛Herb of the Moon🌜, a completely FREE and accessible email + blog series, made to empower you to learn and apply plant medicine in your everyday life.

Each Full Moon and New Moon, we’re doing a deep dive into an herb and sharing our in-depth experiences after thorough daily testing for 2 weeks- all while sharing our knowledge of its scientific, spiritual, and historical attributes.

This is everything we’ll be including in our bimonthly Herb of the Moon series:

  • The historical applications of the plant.

  • The purely spiritual history and energetic properties of the plant.

  • The primary alkaloids and compounds in the plant and their applications for humanity.

  • Our full personal experience after thoroughly working with the plant for the 2 week period, and all the good, bad, magickal, and awesome experiences we have with it.

  • Occasionally, maybe even a special recipe involving the plant!

  • Occasionally, what deities, mythical beings, and astrological attributes are associated with the herb.

  • Any other info you might want to hear about an herb.

  • Occasionally, polls for what herbs you want to learn about next.

  • Early updates about new launches and herby goodness coming to Sam & Angie’s.

For our first entry in the series, we’ll be starting out with Gingko Biloba, one of our favorite herbal remedies and a featured adaptogenic in our High Spirits Tea Blend. We feel that this plant has an incredibly rich medicinal history and robust alkaloid profile, and it’s been central to so many people’s healing journeys✨.

We can’t wait to get started, and hope you’ll join us to learn all about gingko during the next New Moon: on April 20, 2022!
